About the Role
You’ll build and maintain client websites that have to do two jobs at once: convert visitors with UIX, and stay technically clean enough to rank with SEO framework guidance. Most agencies treat these as separate departments. We don’t. You’ll work directly alongside our SEO strategists, and the sites you ship carry client revenue.
A large share of our incoming work is Malaysia, Singapore, China, and Hong Kong clients. You will be reading Chinese briefs, writing Chinese page content into templates, and sitting in calls where the working language isn’t English. Mandarin is a must-have here.
What You’ll Do
- Build client websites end-to-end — WordPress primarily, plus Wix and Shopify builds depending on client stack
- Ship SEO-ready — clean semantic markup, correct heading hierarchy, schema implementation, Core Web Vitals, mobile-first, crawlable structure. Our SEO team shouldn’t have to fix your build.
- Translate design into working pages — take wireframes and mockups to pixel-accurate, responsive, conversion-focused live pages
- Multilingual builds — implement EN / ä¸æ–‡ (Simplified & Traditional) site versions with correct hreflang, URL structure and font handling for Chinese typography
- Maintain and optimise — site speed, plugin hygiene, security patching, staging-to-live deployment, backups, uptime
- Troubleshoot fast — when a client site breaks, you diagnose and fix it, not escalate it
- Work with the SEO team — implement technical SEO fixes, migrations, redirect mapping, and structural changes without breaking rankings
What We’re Looking For — All Levels
- Mandarin is required. You must be able to work professionally in Chinese — read client briefs, handle content, and communicate with China and Hong Kong stakeholders when necessary. Simplified and Traditional Chinese both.
- Cantonese is a strong bonus — a meaningful part of our client growth is Hong Kong, and we value people who can speak to those clients directly
- Working English — our internal team, documentation and client base in Malaysia run in English
- Hands-on experience across WordPress, Wix and Shopify — WordPress depth is essential; Wix and Shopify familiarity is expected because our clients arrive on all three
- Portfolio of live sites you built — URLs we can open, with a clear account of what you personally built versus what the team did
- Responsive and mobile-first by default, not as an afterthought
- Bonus: custom-coded websites (HTML / CSS / JavaScript / PHP from scratch, headless, or custom themes) — if you can build without a page builder, say so and show it
- Bonus: understanding of how site structure and page speed affect search rankings
Senior WordPress Developer
- 3+ years building and shipping client websites, agency environment strongly preferred
Custom theme and plugin development, PHP proficiency, comfortable in the codebase — not builder-dependent - Has handled site migrations, large rebuilds, and performance rescues on live client sites
- Can scope a project, estimate timelines realistically, and own delivery without supervision
- Able to review a junior’s work and explain why something needs changing
- Can sit in a client call and hold a technical conversation in Mandarin without a translator
- Bonus: API integrations, headless / React front-ends, Git-based deployment workflows
Junior WordPress Developer
- 1+ year hands-on WordPress experience, or a portfolio strong enough to make the years irrelevant
- Solid with Elementor and comparable builders, plus real HTML and CSS — enough to fix what the builder can’t
- Has built at least a few complete sites from blank install to launch, personal projects count if you own them
- Careful, detail-driven, and asks before guessing
- Genuinely wants to move toward custom development — we’ll teach, but you have to want it

Give us 3–5 sites you built. For each one:
- Platform used — WordPress, Wix, Shopify, or custom
- Your scope — what you personally built versus what the team or client handled. Be specific. We check.
- The hardest problem on that build — and how you solved it. Speed, migration, a plugin conflict, a layout the builder couldn’t do. One or two lines is enough.
- If any were multilingual or Chinese-language sites, flag them — those are the ones we’ll look at the hardest.
Level and language
State which role you’re applying for (Senior or Junior), your Mandarin proficiency (spoken and written), and whether you speak Cantonese.
